HARVEST Update Outlines Support for 8,100 Kaffa Households

August Programme Update

HereWeGrow’s HARVEST project page, updated in August 2026, describes a programme targeting 8,100 households in Kaffa Zone’s Gimbo and Shisho Inde woredas. The project period runs from December 2025 to November 2028.

Diversifying Household Income

Village Enterprise is implementing support that combines business training, savings groups, seed capital and mentoring. Innovations for Poverty Action will evaluate the project with the Ethiopia Policy Innovation Research Center. Initial impact results are expected in early 2029. The household figure is a programme target, not a count of households with verified income gains.

Buyer Perspective

For businesses sourcing coffee, our interest is whether additional income options eventually help households sustain their farms through difficult seasons. That remains a question for the evaluation. Buyers discussing social-impact claims with suppliers can ask for the programme location, participation records and the date of any outcome evidence. Keeping planned reach separate from measured results makes customer communications more accurate. The update does not establish any affiliation between HARVEST and Ethio Coffee, or show that a particular commercial lot comes from participating households.
